Today, coming to you from Barcelona, I walk through the streets with the beautiful tall houses and their cute balconies, some might call it so European. Last week’s music has been queer, artpop and ready to get danced to in cowboy boots. Yeehaw! Star points for all legendary visuals, created to the music too!
If you take a listen, you can hear the unique orchestral and soundscapes of today’s music. Let’s dive into it:
Red Wine Supernova by Chappell Roan
We’ve all been waiting for this anthem to get released and how happy we are now that it’s out! I’ve already spent so many hours jumping in my room to this song, screaming Baby, why don’t you come over? in desperate hope someone would hear it and actually come over - hehe.
fell in love with the thought of you / now I’m choked up, face down, burnt out / Baby, why don’t you come over?
Don’t Kiss Me by Maple Glider
Wow. I was speechless the first listening to the songwriting of this song. It put me right into my feels with relating to the lyrics a bit too much and how I’d love to scream to it together with Maple on stage, and me in a crowd, full of strangers that relate to this feeling too.
I wonder, do you see me now? / don’t kiss me / my safety should not have to be earned
Cheerleader by Liza Anne
This song has got everything to have been a poem in Liza Anne’s notes app and they’d be like “this is too good to be stuck here” and made it into a song that cheers our ears up today :) Liza speaks up everything we’ve ever thought about a crush or our neighbour next door & now we can walk through our city and let our feet step in the rhythm of the song.
your style is a cosmic getaway / your smile is a national holiday / scratch off, you’re a winning ticket, ow!
Too Much Time In My House Alone by Leith Ross
To Learn is Leith Ross’s sophomore album release and oh, we were so excited for it to break our hearts and let us sob at 3am in our bed. It feels so difficult to put my words about this song in particular, the final song on the album, as it’s hitting the right spots in my heart over and over and I’m not ready yet to get over it. And I think this pretty much sums the entire experience of our hearts’ listening to To Learn since its release on Friday.
running, running from lightning / waiting inside for something to happen / missing, and never risking
When You’re Breaking My Heart by Gatlin
When Gatlin announced this song, I commented under her video that indeed, she always releases her songs for whatever I go through in my feelings archive and she delivers an anthem to scream to, like a never-ordered parcel in front of my house, and I love it every time. Thanks, Gatlin :)
you’re sexy when you’re playing games / so why’d you let me win? / I’m used to getting off on the pain
This is all for this week! Last week’s new music releases were definitely for all sleepless nights spent dancing. Let’s hope Summer dances around the corner the same way this coming week in front of us. ⭐️🌞⭐️
