1. our artist pick - Steven Lee Ebert!
Steven Lee Ebert has been an artist that sends in their music regularly, it’s like a reminder once in a while that his June-released album If Dreams Were Horses exists. The album is a no-skip rock piece.
The title track is the center of attention in the album. Ebert expresses the unlimited freedom one feels for a period of time while daydreaming, how creativity and dreams are what make us feel free at the end of the day.
Another song off the album, All The Good Ones Are Taken, is more a track to put on when you wanna groove in the kitchen. A track with jolly instruments (we’re blaming the violin for that ;) + lyrics that are rather sentimental and reflective sound like a good mix.
2. song releases 💿
Potami by Sophia Saïra - Here’s what Saïra shared about her song: “My latest release is a deeply moving reflection on love, loss, and life’s quiet, shifting currents. Meaning “river” in Greek, potámi was first written as a poem after the tragic death of my brother Sebastianos.” And despite not understanding the language, Saïra’s music shows how music is one of its own, no knowledge needed to feel what emotion is being conveyed through the song. Put your phone on do-not-disturb and immerse yourself in Potami.
Lightning Strikes by The Northern Line - A band whose music sounds like late ‘60s Stones, nailing their influences from the Britrock / Manchester sound, making their name justice with their debut single.
Lucky Ones by Mike Freund - If you’re a fan of Back to the Future films, you’ll love this one: Freund’s music sounds like Marty McFly started up a rock band later in his life after time-traveling through multiple periods.
More Than What I Am by Yo Yo Sun - This is the perfect track to put on when driving away from someone you dearly love, but feel like you can't have right now. Like when a friendship you don't want to risk with confessing with your feelings towards them.
3. LP & EPs 📀
Get Together by Giack Bazz - Off his album Bedtime Stories for Computers, this song is joyful and interesting. There’s a nostalgic and warm feeling in it. With it being called Get Together, you’ll hear how everything eventually gets together at the end.
For the Dream by Cristina Kornfeld - Off her EP Underestimate Me, Kornfeld described this song “about wanting to pursue your dream life but with the knowledge that to be the best version of yourself you have to accept the past and create the future on your own!”. Bridget Jones would’ve loved this song with the bubblegum 2000s sound to it.
4. recommendations 📼
Welcome to The Rehab by Terje Gravdal - Ever felt the pressure to achieve more to be enough and trying to overcome these feelings? Gravdal’s song is your soundtrack. The music video, too, is mixed with beautiful landscapes that fit the musical world.
Made Of Stars by Project EarthBridge - Looking for a song to dance and groove to? Maybe one for your New Year’s Eve party? Its catchiness, mixed with stripped-back parts to its usual pop music, builds anticipation for everything to come in this song.
Technology by Baraka Palmer - This is quite a ‘80s bomb - an angst audible in Palmer’s vocals together with a strong bass line and guitar riffs makes this song fit right there with its classic rock influences.
